(13.04.2023) The ERC family is deeply saddened to learn that Craig Breen sadly passed away earlier today (Thursday) on a Croatia Rally pre-event test.

Co-driver James Fulton was unharmed in the incident that occurred just after midday local time.

The Irishman has participated in 224 rallies, including 82 WRC rounds. He stood on the podium nine times in world championship rallies. He took part in the FIA ERC rounds 36 times, scoring five victories in this cycle.

Breen took part in Rally Poland four times. He competed for the first time on Masurian gravel roads in the 2013 behind the wheel of a Peugeot 207 S2000. He used a WRC car twice (2016 and 2017) and once an R5 rally car (2021), when he finished fifth overall. Polish fans had the opportunity to meet the smiling Irishman in Mikołajki also in 2015, when Craig Breen was a reporter for the WRC Rally Radio during Polish classic.

At this sad time our thoughts are with the loved ones of Craig. The organizer of ORLEN 79. Rally Poland expresses its sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
