(26.07.2026) Teemu Suninen and Antte Haapala won Rally Poland on their fifth attempt. On their way to victory in the Polish round of the FIA European Rally Championship, the Finns won 5 out of 15 special stages. Joining them on the podium were Polish crews. Second place went to Jakub Matulka and Daniel Dymurski, marking their first-ever FIA ERC podium finish. Mikołaj Marczyk and Szymon Gospodarczyk finished in third position. After four rounds of the FIA ERC, Teemu Suninen leads the standings (80 pts), ahead of Andrea Mabellini (57 pts) and Miko Marczyk (47 pts).
On the final stage of the rally – Silesian Voivodeshiop – the fastest were Andrea Mabellini and Virginia Lenzi (Lancia Ypsilon Rally2). For winning the Power Stage, they earned an additional five points towards the championship standings. Mikołaj Marczyk and Szymon Gospodarczyk (Škoda Fabia RS Rally2) were 0.5 seconds slower, while Marco Bulacia and José Murado (Škoda Fabia RS Rally2) recorded the third-fastest time.
However, the Power Stage results had no effect on the overall standings. The winners of the 82nd Rally Poland were Teemu Suninen and Antte Haapala (Škoda Fabia RS Rally2). The Finns took the lead after SS4 and held onto it all the way to the finish. Along the way, they won 5 out of the 14 contested special stages (SS3 was cancelled following Dominik Stříteský’s crash). Victory in Poland allowed them to extend their lead in the FIA European Rally Championship (FIA ERC) standings.
The battle for the remaining podium spots was fought down to the wire. Fighting for second and third place were Mabellini, Marczyk, as well as Jakub Matulka and Daniel Dymurski (Škoda Fabia RS Rally2). Ultimately, the reigning Polish Champions came out on top, crossing the finish line in second place, 9.7 seconds behind the winners. Along the way, they won an impressive six special stages. The bottom step of the podium was also taken by Poles—Mikołaj Marczyk finished 3.8 seconds behind Matulka. Interestingly, the 2025 European Champion did not win a single stage at Rally Poland. Mabellini claimed three stage wins, but missed out on the top three by just 2.6 seconds. Only 16 seconds separated the top four crews, demonstrating just how tight and fierce the competition was in this year’s Rally Poland. Rounding out the top five were Kajetan Kajetanowicz and Maciej Szczepaniak (Toyota GR Yaris Rally2).
In the ERC3 class, Michał Chorbiński and Adam Chrzanowski (Renault Clio Rally3) set the pace for almost the entire rally. Their dreams of victory were dashed on SS14, where they ripped off a wheel and were forced to retire. Victory thus went to the Finnish crew of Ville Vatanen and Joonas Ojala (Ford Fiesta Rally3). On the second day of the rally, Casey Jay Coleman and Killian McArdle (Ford Fiesta Rally3) set fantastic stage times, propelling them to second place in the class. The podium was completed by their fellow Irishmen, Kalum Graffin and Rhodri Evans (Ford Fiesta Rally3). Tom Heindrichs and Jonas Schmitz (Opel Corsa Rally4) triumphed in the Junior ERC category.
Following Rally Poland, Suninen remains the FIA ERC points leader (80 pts). Mabellini moved up to second place, 23 points behind, while Marczyk jumped into third (47 pts). Jakub Matulka holds fifth position with 35 points.
In the KIQ Polish Rally Championship (RSMP), Matulka claimed victory ahead of Marczyk and the duo of Adrian Rzeźnik and Kamil Kozdroń (Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, +57.4 s). Jarosław Szeja and Marcin Szeja (Škoda Fabia RS Rally2) got very lucky on SS9—the Polish championship leaders suffered a high-speed spin there. Fortunately, they did not damage their car, but they had to say goodbye to third place in the rally. Łukasz Byśkiniewicz and Łukasz Jastrzębski (Škoda Fabia RS Rally2) finished fifth overall.
