(12.04.2025) In terms of spectator safety, it is worth to use experience and knowledge of people who understand the risk in rallying very well. Michèle Mouton, a rallying legend and 1982 WRC runner-up is the one to be listened carefully when it comes to safety.
Mouton worked as the FIA Safety Delegate in rallies for many years, but her knowledge is still used by the organizers of the World and European Championship rounds. It is no different in case of Rally Poland, which Mouton visited a couple of times sharing her rich experience with the rally safety team.
During the ORLEN OIL 81st Rally Poland, all sports tests will be passed immediately before their start by Benjamin Schmidt, the FIA Safety Delegate. Schmidt will check whether there are no contraindications to the safe conduct of a given special stage. The FIA safety delegate will assess, among other things, whether 30 minutes before the start, fans have already taken their places in the designated zones and the road is ready for the rally cars to pass.
That’s why obeying the 30-minutes rule is crucial for running the ERC event smoothly. In case of any doubts FIA Safety Delegate can delay the stage or even cancel it if spectators are behaving in unsafe manner.
