New era of European Rally Championship

(13.04.2022) FIA European Rally Championship brings important changes to the oldest rallying series in the World. Although 2022 calendar remained mostly unchanged, fans can now watch rallies live using WRC+ platform, while crews gained a chance to score additional championship points thanks to introduction of Power Stage.

FIA European Rally Championship are held since 1953. There are names of three Polish drivers in series’ hall of fame: Sobieslaw Zasada (FIA ERC Champion: 1966, 1967, 1971), Krzysztof Holowczyc (1997) and Kajetan Kajetanowicz (2015, 2016, 2017).

Four and four

The eight-round schedule comprises four gravel fixtures and four asphalt events. The details of seven out of eight rounds are already known, while season-closing event is to be confirmed. ORLEN 78th Rally Poland once again is an important part of FIA ERC calendar. Second oldest rally in the world will be held as ERC round for record-breaking 52nd time.

ERC joins WRC+ platform

After nine years of cooperation with Eurosport Events, WRC Promoter is now responsible for series promotion. This means an important change for rallying fans all over the world as ERC are now available at all-live using WRC+ platform. Every special stage from each round will be streamed live and on demand for fans to watch whenever, wherever and however they want. An experienced presenting team will bring key stories, interviews and features. Breathtaking onboard footage, real-time GPS and live maps completes the on-event package. Away from rallies, fans can enjoy a packed archive of videos, reviews, historic specials and documentaries.

Power Stage excitement comes to ERC

The ERC will emulate the WRC by including a bonus-points paying live TV Power Stage to close each round. The fastest five top-level ERC1 category drivers in the final special stage will win extra points on a sliding 5-4-3-2-1 scale. With up to 40 additional points available across the season, vital tenths of a second gained here can significantly boost a driver’s title challenge. The Power Stage will be broadcast live on international networks as well as on WRC+ All Live. The introduction of a Power Stage means that bonus points will no longer be awarded after each leg.
