(18.05.2022) Polish fans will be delighted as Mikolaj Marczyk and Szymon Gospodarczyk announced their start in ORLEN 78^th Rally Poland, fourth round of 2022 FIA ERC season. Their best result in Polish ERC counter was third place overall in 2021 edition, when only former winners Lukyanuk and Mikkelsen were faster.

Mikolaj and Szymon have two Polish championship (RSMP) titles under their belts. Their maiden triumph came in 2019, which was just third consecutive season of professional rallying for Marczyk. Having secured national crown, Marczyk and Gospodarczyk began their cooperation with PKN ORLEN and joined ORLEN Team to compete in FIA ERC. During 2020 season, shortened due to COVID-19, Polish duo took part in five ERC rounds, finishing 8^th in series overall standings and 4^th in ERC1 Junior classification. Their best result was 4^th place in tarmac Rally Fafe Montelogo, which was third round of the season.

In 2021 ORLEN Team crew had a very busy schedule, as they competed both in FIA ERC and selected rounds of Polish Rally Championship. In European Championship they finished third, after intense battle with Llarena and Fernandez during season-ending Rally Islas Canarias. Earlier Marczyk and Gospodarczyk managed to clinch national title with a healthy margin, after winning five out of seven rounds.

This year Mikolaj and Szymon face even greater challenge as they joined WRC2 category in World Rally Championship. In their maiden WRC outing, which was Rally Croatia, ORLEN Team crew finished 9^th in WRC2. Two-time Polish champions will arrive in Mikolajki very well prepared to tackle fast Masurian gravel stages. Prior to ORLEN 78^th Rally Poland, Marczyk and Gospodarczyk will compete in two gravel WRC rounds – Rally Portugal and Rally Sardegna.

Since the beginning of 2018 season Marczyk drives rally machinery made in Mlada Boleslav. ORLEN 78^th Rally Poland will be no different for 26-year-old driver, as he will enter the event with Skoda Fabia Rally2 evo – the latest version of this successful car.
