19 special stages amongst the Masurian lakes

Nineteen gravel special stages, with a total length of nearly 332 km, are waiting for drivers planning to take part in LOTOS 72nd Rally Poland. The route of the seventh round of the 2015 FIA World Rally Championship, which runs amongst picturesque Masurian lakes and moraine hills, has been changed by almost 90% compared to last year's edition and will run for a total distance of 1,228 km. Most of the special stages are modified or completely new. Amongst them is the longest test in the history of rallying in Poland – a special stage of 42 km.

This year's rally will be held in Poland solely. The route has undergone very big changes and only the super special at the Mikołajki Arena will have the same course as last season. In other cases, we use well known pieces of special stages, tests run in the opposite direction or sections used many years ago, but not in the World Championship. There will also be completely new special stages, amongst which there will be the longest one in the rally.
The schedule is so arranged that there are no stages run in the dark. Last year's stages, in most cases, appealed to drivers, fans and media representatives, but we paid attention to their suggestions and opinions. We take them into account when preparing our rally. I have no doubt that in the first weekend of July we will see exciting competition on demanding and spectacular special stages of the LOTOS 72nd Rally Poland.
” said clerk of the course, Jarosław Noworól.

The ceremonial start will take place on Thursday, July 2nd 2015 in the afternoon in the centre of Mikołajki. The same evening, drivers will face the first competition on the Mikołajki Arena track.

On Friday, July 3rd, drivers will tackle eight special stages with a length of 162 kilometers, including two runs through the longest timed test in the rally. An additional challenge is the lack of a midday service for the cars (with the exception of a tyre change). At end of the day drivers will fight a duel on Mikołajki Arena for the second time.

Seven stages, but this time with a total length of 132 km, will be held on Saturday, July 4th. Three of them will be run twice.

On Sunday, July 5th, the remaining three stages of LOTOS 72nd Rally Poland take place, including a super special (Mikołajki Arena) and ending with the rivalry of the Power Stage with additional points (3-2-1) for the first three drivers. The finish of the rally, like the ceremonial start, will be in the charming centre of Mikołajki.

The rally office will be located, as in previous years, in the Hotel Gołębiewski in Mikołajki, right next to a rebuilt and enlarged service park.

The WRC Promoter will provide live broadcasts from three different special stages on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. These will be shown on TVP and Polsat.
