The Polish Automobile and Motorcycle Federation and PKN ORLEN have reached an agreement concerning the cooperation in organising Rally Poland, the eighth round of the 2017 FIA World Rally Championship. The biggest motor sport event in Poland will now be known as ORLEN 74th Rally Poland.
Rafał Pasieka, PKN ORLEN Marketing Executive Director said: “We are delighted that PKN ORLEN is coming back to the special stages in Poland as a sponsor. The high sporting level as well as good organisation and positive feelings towards rallying strengthen our beliefs and these are factors in the company’s marketing strategy. At the turn of June and July we will be present at Rally Poland, the eighth round of the FIA World Rally Championship. The 74th edition of the event will be very important to us. As the biggest fuel company in Poland, we are back on the Masurian gravel as a title sponsor. We will also see our ORLEN Team rally crew there – Hubert Ptaszek and Maciej Szczepaniak.”
Andrzej Witkowski, the president of Polish Automobile and Motorcycle Federation added: “We are extremely satisfied seeing the involvement of PKN ORLEN, the biggest company in Poland, to support us in organising a rally which is our pride and is one of the most important events in the Polish sport calendar. PKN ORLEN supported us organising the Polish classic many times in the past, including the memorable 2009 edition, which as ORLEN Platinum 66th Rally Poland marked out return to the WRC calendar after many years.
“We appreciate the proof of recognition from PKN ORLEN for the rank of the event, which is organised by the Polish Automobile and Motorcycle Federation. The high level of organisation, the attractive area and huge popularity in the fans community are the biggest assets of the Polish classic. We already know the route of ORLEN 74th Rally Poland, but we are still working on every important element of the event, where will see the debut of the new generation of World Rally Cars at the turn of June and July. They will be driven by the best drivers in the world on the Masurian gravel.”
This year’s ORLEN 74th Rally Poland will be held from June 29th to July 2nd. Drivers will have a 1,457-kilometre route to tackle, including 340 competitive kilometres over 23 special stages. We will also see some new stages for drivers and fans – Pozezdrze and Orzysz.
The ceremonial start will take place on Thursday, June 29th at 16.00hrs. On the same day, at 19.08hrs, fans will have an opportunity to see the beginning of the rally at the Mikołajki Arena, which will witness the action on two further occasions during this event.
On Friday (June 30th) and Saturday (July 1st) there will be nine special stages and 119km and 164km, respectively. On Sunday (July 2nd) we will see the final four stages of ORLEN 74th Rally Poland, including the Power Stage in a new location (SS 23 Paprotki-2) with extra points (5-4-3-2-1) awarded to the five fastest drivers.
